The Santa Barbara Kennel Club Dog Show is one of the USA's oldest dog shows. So during the last weekend of August I flew into Los Angelas, CA (LAX) Airport and was greeted by my good friend and fellow BC enthusiast Christy Hittner, her gentleman of a son Mathew, and hubby Brett! We promptly drove to the show 3 hrs away to setup the Bellaclan/Shepstone camp outside underneath the Palm Trees...what a treat! We proceeded to go home to prep our dogs to show...well into the night...this seems to be the norm for me. LOL
The real treat was being surrounded by an amazing, supportive and sweet group of fellow Border Collie fanciers. Everyone showed so much love to each other...so no matter what followed, my heart was full! Between grooming and much laughter I got to cheer friends to their wins and of course celebrate our own wins too!
Christy was so generous to share Isla with me. She is the result of Dime bred to Harlan. Out of the Bred-By Class, me me having the pleasure of being on the end of her leash, Isla went WB on Sunday and WB/BOW on Monday!!
Shepstone Saltwater Heart "Isla"
Hi! I am Laura K. S. Shaw, I have been involved with dogs for as long as I can remember. I originally started in obedience and after a move to Ontario in 2000 I got hooked on conformation showing. I have had Border Collies since 1998 and they are my heart and soul. They are so comical and loving and I could not ask for better partners! I have made so many friends over the years, all around the globe, a special thanks to all those people that have helped me along the way. This blog is here so that I can share my stories and adventures at shows as well as at home! I breed under the "Bellaclan" prefix and my dogs can be seen all around the world. I am proud of each and every one of them.
